UN Advocacy

UN Team

IPCA has been on advisory status within the UN, ECOSOC since 2014.

2015 we started our UN-team and are present in conferences and events in the UN headquarters in New York,  Vienna and Geneva.

We attend webinars and stakeholder meetings focusing on the United Nations Standard Minimum Rules for the Treatment of prisoners, known as The Mandela Rules.  And the Bangkok Rules on women and female offenders.  The goal for the UN-team is to be involved in the process as much as possible, but also to be an organization well known for the UN.

We have a unique position among NGO: s, not having a head office, but instead it is the actual prison chaplains that attends the conferences. The IPCA UN-team is led by the Vice President and together with the team-members -both on site and those attending the conferences via Zoom – puts together a report from the different side-events the team has taken part in.

We are also ready to be of assistance if people working within the UNODC needs our help getting in contact with somebody around the globe. We are a worldwide network, so we are happy to assist if we can provide information or contacts when needed.
