Martin studied theology at the universities in Mainz, Marburg, Utrecht and Amsterdam in the Netherlands. Since being ordained in the Unified (Lutheran and Reformed) Church of Hessen and Nassau,, he has been a minister near Darmstadt. Since 1992, Martin has been a Prison Chaplain in a young offender institute and high security prison for prisoners on remand. From 1998 till 2010 he was on the board of the Lutheran and Reformed German Prison Chaplaincy and it's Chairman for the last eight years. Since the IPCA Europe Conference in Rugby he took part in all IPCA Worldwide and IPCA Europe conferences.

Doris Bernhardson, has served as vice president, European representative since 2010 and as a prison chaplain since 2006. She worked for IPCA as a project manager 2007-2010, when the IPCA office was in Sweden. Ordained Baptist minister since 1978. Visited a prison first time 1973, to sing with a youth choir and talk to the inmates. Next time behind walls was to visit a college who was in prison because he refused armed military duty. Worked 20 years in different churches and had many contacts with marginalized people, more or less criminal, and also with victims. From 1998 Home Mission Secretary in Baptist Union of Sweden. Vice chair in Baptist World Alliance commission for social and environmental justice since 2010. Trained to be a spiritual director in the Ignatian tradition, sometimes a retreat leader at Swedish Kumla prison "monastery". Worked for Christian Council of Sweden 2007-2011. Full time chaplain from 1 September 2011.
