IPCA Steering Committee Meeting in Sydney Australia 2007
Because of the long distanse and the costs, the steering committee can only meet once a year. The meeting is in different parts of the world, on places where a committee member is living and working.
Most important for the meeting is time for negotiations. Another very important issue is to meet with people from government and correctional service and with church leaders in the country where the meeting is. If it can be arranged, a meeting with local prison chaplains is on the agenda.
IPCA Worldwide is for the moment in a process of development. Working groups are selected to work with different issues:
- Mission statement and bylaws
- Membership
- Fundraising
- IPCA World conference in Sweden August 2010.
Decisions for changes and news will be taken in next steering committee meeting in the end of 2008 in Manilla, Philippines.
The different working groups will prepare and send material to the rest of the committee on a regular bases during the coming year.
Application to be an NGO in UN has been sent and we are still waiting for the answer.
It has been a tradition so far in IPCA's quite young history, that the office is in the country where the president is.
Birgitta Winberg lives in Stockholm, therefor the office is in the Stockholm area.
To get a strong work in the future, IPCA needs to get a steady base with an office somewhere in the world, an office with staff who continue to work whereever the president lives. To reach that goal there will be a lot of work, and a lot of money needs to be found.
